Jorge Eduardo Thomas, 73, of Warda, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Jorge was born in Rosario, Argentina on Feb. 11, 1947, the son of Carlos and Anna Berta (Baumann) Thomas.

Jorge attended Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR) in Argentina, where he received his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Jorge married the love of his life, Donna Carrol Myers on May 22, 1970, in Rosario, Argentina. The couple was blessed with two children: Clarissa and Eric.

He worked at Powell Industries in Houston as Vice President and General Manager of Powell Industries Off Shore Division. Jorge was loved by the staff and workers at Powell Industries, and he considered them all as family.

One of Jorge’s proudest moments was becoming a United States Citizen. He loved traveling to different parts of the world, learning about different cultures, and meeting new people. Most of all he always looked forward to his family visits to Argentina.

Jorge enjoyed entertaining people. Cooking and grilling for his guests made him the happiest. He loved to watch soccer and rugby. He was also the captain of his rugby team in Argentina. Jorge was a lover of music, listening to Spanish guitar and flamenco music harmonizing to the beats while relaxing outdoors by the water with a glass of wine. Jorge valued a strong work ethic and the importance of family. He instilled these values into his children along with being kind to others and doing good deeds for one another.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Donna Thomas of Warda; daughter, Clarissa Ridge of Pearland and her sons: Noah, Asher, and FynnIan Ridge; son, Eric Thomas and wife, Michelle of The Woodlands and their children: Alice and Charles Thomas; brothers: Ernesto Thomas of Strobel, Argentina and Carlos Thomas of Paysandu, Uraguay; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Thomas; mother, Ana Berta Thomas, and cousin, Alberto Thomas.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 4, 2020, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange. A prayer service followed at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, TX 78945, or to a charity of one’s choice.
