Janet L. Taylor, 87, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 25, 2024. She passed away at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

Janet was born to Harris M. Johnson and Ida M. (Stern) Johnson on Sept. 14, 1937 in Nevada, Iowa. She fell in love and married her husband, Kenneth Taylor, of 60 years on Feb. 28, 1959. To this union two children were born, one son Steven and one daughter Pamela.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She is survived by son, Steven; daughter, Pamela; sister, Dorothy Holland of Minneapolis, Minn.; nephew, Nathen Holland; niece, Nita (Dan) Cooper; nephew, Neal (Kristy) Holland; granddaughters, Christina (Bryce) Haynes, Kendall (Deven) Ouellette, and Kelsey Taylor; great granddaughters, Karlyn and Laken Haynes and Everly Ouellette; and great grandson, Weston Ouellette.

Janet worked for Shell in Houston. After retiring she became a smalltown rancher near Flatonia. Janet loved spending time with family and friends, basketball, crafting, and raising cattle.

Janet’s body was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at the ranch with the immediate family. Memorials can be made in Janet’s name to a charity of one’s choice.

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia.
