Lorene Julia Toll Stork, 92, of Ezzell, entered into eternity with her Lord on Dec. 4, 2025, at Stevens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Hallettsville. She was born in Waldeck, Fayette County, Texas, on Dec. 20, 1932, at the family home to Herman and Frieda Sohr Toll. She was baptized and confirmed at Waldeck Lutheran Church in Waldeck. She attended Bell Settlement School until the eighth grade after which she helped with the family farm. During those years she drove the family and neighbor’s tractors to peanut mills and cotton gins.
Close to the age of 20, Lorene ventured to Houston and worked several jobs before settling in with Mortgage and Trust for 28 years, finishing her tenure as file room supervisor. While in Houston, she met Charles (Cowboy) Stork. They married September 20, 1969, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bastrop. While still working, Charles and Lorene purchased property in Ezzell to which they retired in 1987. Together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage until his death on May 19, 2012.
Lorene enjoyed the country life. She especially took pride in gardening, canning, baking, raising various livestock, and sharing quality time with family and friends. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville, especially with Women in Mission.
Lorene is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Charles; daughter Junice; son-in-law Benny; grandson John; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Esther, Erna (Henry), Leona, Hulda (Martin), Alvina (Walter) and Evelyn; and brother and sister-inlaw Herbert (Dottie).
Lorene is survived by; daughters, Charlotte and Judy (Dickie), son-in-law Dan (Donna), brother-in-law Bobby Buscha Sr. and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Sincere gratitude is extended to the nurses and staff at Stevens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Crown Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Lorene and family.
Family and friends are requested to honor Lorene by wearing blue.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Pallbearers were Lorene’s nephews and grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers were Joe and Georgie Herman. Officiant was Pastor Jared Stillion.
