Schultz
Lorali Bauer Schultz was born on Feb. 1, 1943, in La Grange, to Weston and Verbie Meinen Bauer. She was baptized on June 13, 1943, in the home of William and Gesine Bauer by Reverend Carl Baer. She was confirmed March 30, 1958, at St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton, by Reverend W. E. Doerr. Her confirmation Bible verse was John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.”
She was united in marriage with Norman F. Schultz, on June 11, 1961, at St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton by Reverend Otto Fehler. Lorali attended Round Top Carmine Elementary School and graduated from Round-Top Carmine High School in 1961.
Lorali worked for Round Top-Carmine ISD for 30 years before she retired. Her favorite part of the job was working with special needs children. She loved to quilt, read, cook, tend to her beautiful flower beds and vegetable garden, research genealogy and spend time with all of her family, especially her five granddaughters and her sister, Sedalia. She also kept busy with many church activities.
Lorali was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and she was in the Texas Extension Education Association Walhalla Club for 36 years. She served as a volunteer for Lutherhill and Round Top Historical Society. She was actively involved with the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA), Rutersville Unit, serving first as Chairperson, as a representative for WELCA on the Fellowship Hall Building Committee, and also as WELCA President from 2000 to the present. Lorali was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Rutersville Altar Guild and the Quilting Ladies group. Lorali’s love of quilting allowed her to gift quilts to Hospice Brazos Valley, CASA, the Family Crisis Center, Lutheran World Relief, Woodside Trails Home for Boys, Canyon Lake Home for Girls, along with also gifting birthday and baby quilts to her beloved friends, family and classmates.
She and her husband Norman did extensive traveling, even going to Alaska in 2009 and Germany in 2010. One of her life’s accomplishments that she was most proud of, in addition to the wonderful family she created and 62 years of marriage, was her work as an assistant project director of books Vol 1 and 2 of “Fayette County Texas Heritage.” Lorali loved to research and write articles on family history and genealogy.
