Schramm
Herman Rudolph Schramm III, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2024, in Austin surrounded by his family.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1947, in La Grange to Herman H., Sr. and Dorothy (Baca) Schramm. Herman grew up in Fayetteville and Industry, running around Baca’s Confectionary and at the Schramm Farm and Cotton Gin. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville where he was baptized, confirmed and attended school. He was in the last graduating class at St. John’s School when it closed in 1965. Herman then attended Blinn College and graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas with a Bachelor of Business degree. He worked as a real estate appraiser for many years with his cousin, Louis J. Polansky in Houston.
On May 15, 1977, he was united in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony to Susan Vasek at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg, Texas by Msgr. Werner Buckholt and Msgr. Ben Mazurkiewicz. They were blessed with three children.
After his children were born, he and his family moved back to Fayetteville, so he could help his father with his cattle business as a rancher. Herman continued to raise cattle and spent many years tending to his cows and property in Industry. He was an avid Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys fan and loved the outdoors. Herman especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan; his two daughters, Sherri Jurecka and husband Lloyd of Sealy and Sara Schramm of Brenham; one son, Herman C. Schramm IV of Brenham; and two grandchildren, Julia Jurecka and Logan Jurecka of Sealy. He is also survived by sisterin- law, Betty (Erwin) Kovar of Fayetteville; and brothersin- law, Billy (Clara) Vasek and Stephen Vasek both of Frelsburg.
Herman is preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-law, Charles and Ellen (Halfmann) Vasek.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. A parish prayer service and Rosary followed at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville officiated by Very Rev. Steve Sauser. Visitation at the church was from 9-10 a.m.
Pallbearers were Logan Jurecka, Douglas Harris, Billy Vasek, Stephen Vasek, Mark Kasmiersky and Arthur Faldyn.
He was interred at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville.
The family would like to thank Fayette County EMS and Life Flight services as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas for the care that Herman received in his time of need.
