Schneider
Glenn Schneider, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away from natural causes on Feb. 25, 2024, in La Grange, at the age of 87. Born on Jan. 26, 1937, in Rabbs Prairie, Glenn was a man whose larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Glenn spent his formative years in La Grange, where he attended La Grange High School. He was known for his strong personality and quick wit, which would later become his trademark throughout his career and social life. Glenn embarked on his lifelong career in sales, initially spreading cheer as a salesman for Wholesome Bread in Luling, and later for Morton Foods in Giddings. He eventually retired from V.A. Hrbacek Construction in La Grange, where he was not only a valued employee but also a friend to all his colleagues.
Glenn married the love of his life, Jane Schneider, and together they nurtured a family that would grow to include children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband to Jane and a guiding light to his daughter Sandy Sivek and fiancée Jerry Minter, his son Bubba Schneider, and daughter-in-law Sheri Schneider. A beacon of joy and wisdom for his grandchildren, Tim Norsworthy, the late Hollie Schneider, Chris Norsworthy, and Brandon Schneider, Glenn also cherished the moments he spent with his greatgrandchildren, Luke and Jane Norsworthy. His familial circle extended to his sister-in-law Myrtle Friemel, and his nieces and nephews Randy, Beverly, David, Darrell, Dean, and Dwayne Schneider, and Pat and Scott Smith, and Royce and Herbie Friemel and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Granddaughter Hollie Schneider, Siblings, Valerie Smith, Gus Schneider, Willie Schneider and an infant sister, his Mother and Father, Sophie and Gus Schneider and numerous extended family.
He was a life-long member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with strong faith in God. An avid outdoorsman, Glenn relished in the serenity of hunting and fishing. His love for playing cards and dominoes was only matched by his passion for grilling for family and friends, dancing, and indulging in his favorite sports and western films. His convivial spirit was a constant source of entertainment to those around him. Glenn also took great pleasure in caring for the neighborhood birds, squirrels, and any other stray animals that happened upon his doorstep, a testament to his love for animals and generous spirit. His two dogs, Queenie and Lucy, and two cats, Kitty and Chi-Chi, were among the recipients of his unwavering love and attention.
Glenn’s zest for life was contagious, and his presence was a reminder to all that joy can be found in the simplest of activities. His philosophy on life could be summed up by the words of the great Abraham Lincoln: “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Glenn truly embodied this sentiment, filling his years with boundless energy and making every moment count.
As we bid farewell to Glenn Schneider, we celebrate a life well lived, a life brimming with laughter, love, and cherished memories. He was a beacon of light in the lives of many and will be profoundly missed. Though he has left this earthly realm, his legacy of humor, and dedication to his family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Glenn’s life will be commemorated in a ceremony, surrounded by his family and close friends. As we reflect on his journey, let us hold dear the lessons he imparted and the joy he spread so freely. In the words of another, “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” Glenn Schneider will forever remain in our hearts, an indelible part of our lives.
