Jimmie James (Jim) Schielack, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020.

Jim was born in the Shaws Bend Community near Columbus on Dec. 5, 1940, the son of Ben and Elenora (Foyt) Schielack.

He was a graduate of the La Grange High School class of 1959. Jim then served honorably in the United States Navy.

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Margie Ann Hart in La Grange on July 13, 1960. Jim and Margie were later blessed with four children: Christopher, Mike, Melanie and Kelli.

Jim joined the Houston Police Department on Nov. 12, 1963, and was a part of Academy Class #29. During his 24 years with the department, Jim was assigned to the Special Operations, Jail, Emergency Communications, Central, Air Support, Vice, Employment Services, and the Southeast and Eastside Divisions.

After Jim retired, he and Margie settled down in the Fayetteville community. They owned and operated the Old Park Store which was a great way for them to meet folks in the community and establish lasting friendships.

Jim was a true family man. He loved his family dearly, and took every opportunity that he could to spend time with them. He instilled some wonderful values with the time spent with his beloved grandchildren. It was so important to him that they understood to always “make time for family, and come home when you can.”

Some of his hobbies included fishing in Port Mansfield with his fishing buddy, Wiley. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Old Park Store.

Jim is survived by two sons: Christopher Schielack of Fayetteville; and Mike Schielack and wife, Kathy of La Porte; two daughters: Melanie Schielack; and Kelli Myska and husband, Scott, all of League City; one brother, Weldon Schielack of Houston; 13 grandchildren: Heather, Bryan “Bubba”, Nate, Aaron, Adam, Ashton, Madelynne, Candyce, Cassie, Cody, Jake, Shelby, and Mason; Chance and Chase Merritt along with 25 greatgrandchildren.
