Sandra Jean Hackebeil
A graveside service for Sandra Jean Hackebeil, 78 of La Grange is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 at La Grange City Cemetery with Deacon Mike Meismer officiating. Visitation will be held an hour beforehand at the pavilion.
Sandra Jean Hackebeil was born on Jan. 16, 1945 to Arthur “Art” and Ruby Frances (Nelson) Ulrich in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was united in marriage to Elmer Lee “DD” Hackebeil Jr. on July 29, 1967 in La Grange. They were blessed with two children. She attended San Antonio College and received her degree as a registered nurse. Sandy worked as a registered nurse in the NIX Medical Center in San Antonio for several years before retiring. She loved telling others that she was a “DAMN” good nurse. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, playing with her puppies, and going to sporting clay shoots and casinos with her husband.
Sandy passed away the early morning of Saturday, April 1, 2023 in Cypress at the Spring Cypress Assisted Living Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Art and Ruby Ulrich; husband, Elmer Lee “DD” Hackebeil Jr.; son, Elmer Lee “Lee” Hackebeil III; parents-in-law, Elmer Lee Hackebeil Sr. and wife Gertrude Elizabeth Hackebeil, and one sister, Kathleen Jo “Kitty” O’Brien.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Brandy Hackebeil of La Grange; brother, Michael Ulrich of San Antonio; daughter-in-law, Kimmie Hackebeil of La Grange; one niece, Wendy of Fort Worth; two nephews, Robbie of Fort Worth and Hunter of San Antonio; two cousins, Bruce Burnett and wife Rebecca of Bryan and Joe Burnett and wife Michelle of Salado; special friend, Lori Naylor of Brownsboro; special friend and caregiver John Wolff of La Grange, as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice, an Alzheimer’s association of one’s choice, or any charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home Giddings.
