Margie Ann Rosenberg, affectionately known as Marge, passed away peacefully at her home in La Grange, on May 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on Sept. 20, 1934, in Wied, Texas, to Henry and Agnes Strauss, Marge was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and pillar of her community.

Marge’s early life was shaped by her father’s work as a newspaper publisher, which meant frequent moves throughout Texas. She was a majorette at La Grange High School until the family relocated to Austin, where she became a proud member of the esteemed Red Jackets Drill Team at Austin High School. She also excelled in tennis.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Ralph Rosenberg, and together they built a loving home and raised three children: Laurie, Russel, and Janet. Their marriage spanned 67 years, filled with love, devotion, and partnership until Ralph’s passing.

Once her children were grown, Marge pursued a professional career at KVLG radio station in La Grange, where she worked as a copywriter, production manager, and office manager. Her creativity, professionalism, and dedication made her an invaluable part of the station until her retirement.

Marge’s heart for service was evident in her lifelong commitment to her community and the youth in the area. She was an essential part of the Fayette County Fair Association for over four decades, beginning in 1982. As a trailblazer, she served as the organization’s first female president and held various leadership roles, including general manager, vice president and chair of numerous committees. She reimagined the Queens Contest, launched a scholarship program for graduating seniors, and introduced beloved traditions such as the Womanless Talent Show and having a theme for each fair. In 2002, she was named parade marshal, and during the 75th anniversary of the fair, the main stage was renamed the Marge Rosenberg Performing Hall in her honor.

Marge also served on the board of directors for the Texas Association of Fairs & Events, where she chaired several committees and was inducted into their Hall of Fame with a lifetime achievement award in 2003.

A woman of deep faith, Marge was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served as an extraordinary Eucharistic minister. She was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters for over 40 years, the KJZT for 75 years, and the church altar society. Her generosity and compassion led her to organize clothing and food drives and volunteer to causes like the Cancer Society and March of Dimes. She was very active with the MS150 Bikeathon for years.

In addition to her many service roles, Marge was a gifted oil painter and an avid gardener. She found great joy at her beloved cabin on the Rockin’ R Ranch, where she and Ralph raised Longhorn cattle.

Marge was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph, her parents Henry and Agnes Strauss, and her sister Elizabeth Cahoon.

She is survived by her children: Laurie Logan (Ray), Russel Rosenberg (Johnnie), and Janet Cruz (Dave); her grandchildren: Jason Poff, Michael Rosenberg, Jamie Thill, Ashley Timineri, and Jordan Carroll; her sisters: Helen Hall and Henrietta Wagenbach; and five great-grandchildren.

Marge’s life was a testament to kindness, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
