Ralph Rosenberg, a beacon of life’s boundless potential and an embodiment of the indomitable Texas spirit, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2024, in La Grange, the same town that was graced with his birth on Oct. 20, 1935.

Affectionately known as Ralph to all, his journey of 88 years was marked by an unwavering commitment to God, family, community, and the pursuit of excellence. He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and joy that will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ralph’s early years set the tone for a life of achievement and service. A standout athlete at La Grange High School, Ralph’s lightning speed earned him the title of state champ in the 440-yard dash. His prowess on the track led to a four-year scholarship at the University of Texas, where he further honed his skills and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Retail and Marketing. Anyone who knows Ralph knows his blood ran deep burnt orange. Ralph’s competitive spirit on the field was matched only by his dedication to academic success, a testament to his belief in the power of hard work and discipline.

Upon completing his education, Ralph embarked on a distinguished 22-year career with Philip Morris USA, where his intelligence and leadership qualities shone brightly. He quickly ascended the ranks, becoming the youngest to be promoted to section sales manager, a position he proudly held during his decade in Louisville, KY. It was there that Ralph was honored with the title of Honorary Kentucky Colonel, a recognition that reflected his exceptional character and his contributions to the community.

After a satisfying career, Ralph returned to his roots in La Grange to share his voice and wisdom as a beloved figure at KVLG-KBUK Radio. For nearly 30 years, his warm presence on the airwaves brought comfort and joy to listeners, echoing his lifelong commitment to giving back to the community he cherished. Ralph’s voice was a familiar friend, always providing a laugh or two, and a reminder to cherish the simple pleasures and to always strive for greatness.

Ralph’s devotion to his faith and community was mirrored in his steadfast service. A proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he served as an usher, a humble role that spoke volumes of his dedication to fellowship. Ralph’s leadership extended to the La Grange City Council, where he served two terms, and his involvement with the Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree) and Optimist International, where he was honored with the President’s Distinguished Service Award. His hands-on approach with the Fayette County Country Fair, particularly his creative touch with helping Marge with Queens Pageant stage decorations, earned him the honor of Volunteer of the Year.

An adventurer at heart, Ralph’s hobbies were as expansive as the Texas sky. From hunting and fishing to shelling pecans, bowling, golf and playing poker with his long time friends, Ralph embraced life. His passion for their longhorn cattle and working on the Rosenberg “Rockin’ R Ranch”, antique shopping with his beloved wife Marge, and traveling, reflected an insatiable curiosity and zest for life. His love for barbecuing chicken was legendary, a symbol of his embrace of life’s simple joys and the importance of family gatherings. Watching or listening to any University of Texas sports team was always at the top of his list and he loved it even more when these times were shared with his family. You could always recognize Ralph out in public wearing his burnt orange shirt!

Ralph’s intelligence and adventurous spirit were only matched by his faith, which guided him through life’s twists and turns. He instilled in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren a profound respect for nature and the importance of legacy. His teachings on the land, hunting, and fishing were not merely lessons in outdoor skills but in living a life filled with purpose and respect for the environment.

The family would like to thank Brazos Valley Hospice for all the wonderful care they provided.

To remember Ralph is to remember a life lived to the fullest. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Marge, his children Laurie Logan (Ray), Russel Rosenberg (Johnnie), and Janet Cruz (Dave), his adored grandchildren Jason, Michael, Jamie, Ashley and Jordan and 5 great-grandchildren, who will carry on his adventurous spirit and positive approach to life.

Ralph Rosenberg was not just a man but a reminder that with faith and passion, one can leave an indelible mark on the world, touching lives and lifting spirits for generations to come. Let us celebrate his extraordinary life and be motivated to forge our paths with the same courage, love, and joy that Ralph did every single day.
