Joseph Carroll Rogers, man of God, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Uncle, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024.

Better known to everyone else as J. “Carroll” Rogers. He was born to Johnie Carroll and Ila Mae Rogers on April 2, 1931, in Denison.

Carroll graduated in1952 from Medical Lab School located in Asheville, N.C.

He was married to the love of his life; LaVerne Clara Johanna Schott Rogers on Dec. 31, 1964. J. Carrol was blessed to share his daughter’s; La-Donna Weishuhn; husband, Arlen and Joni Cook. Together, they welcomed Joe Carl Rogers and John Rogers, wife Doady Rogers.

Carroll accomplished many things. From his family, to his career, to his volunteer work he touched many lives. Carroll was a Lab and X-ray Tech for 42 years, retiring from Fayette Memorial Hospital.

Carroll and LaVerne owned and operated Riverside Cafe and Floyds Auto Repair. Eventually Floyds Auto Repair became Joe Rogers Dozer Service where Carroll operated dozers along side his favorite sons, Joe and John.

He served on the La Grange City Council, Waldeck Lutheran Church Council, La Grange Optimist Club, member of the Ledbetter V.F.D., Fayette County Red Cross Coordinator, Fayette County Fair Board Association, Citizen on Patrol Member and he was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award in 2012.

Carroll had many interests outside of work and volunteering. Some of his favorites were RV camping, ranching, deer hunting; but especially spoiling his nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren with experiences at the farm and 5 o’clock shadow chin rubs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Joni and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to Ledbetter VFD, La Grange VFD, Hospice Brazos Valley or the charity of one’s choice.

Visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, from 11 a.m. to p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Waldeck Lutheran Church, 6915 Waldeck Church Lane, Ledbetter, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024. Burial will follow at Waldeck Cemetery.
