Charles Milford Richter, 85, of Pflugerville (formerly of Nechanitz) promoted to Heaven on Jan. 20, 2023 in Georgetown.

Charlie was born, at home, in Giddings, on Oct. 30, 1937 to proud parents Karl and Olga (Unger) Richter. Charlie was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. He graduated from Giddings High School and promptly moved to Austin.

Charlie worked as a printer for 42 years with Steck/ Hart Graphics in Austin. He worked night shift for many years so he could help take care of Scott during the day while Mamie Jean worked. Charlie and Mamie traveled all over the USA camping. They started with a tent, then to a camper shell on their truck and finally to a home on wheels RV! They belonged to a local Good Sam Camping Club, where they made many special memories with their camping “family.” Jordy and Sam were able to travel with them at times and came home with many stories about life on the road with Grandpa and Grandma. Charlie loved being on his tractor at his and Mamie’s farm in Nechanitz. The tanks were stocked, and it gave him great joy to catch catfish beside his son and grandsons. He loved to cheer Jordy and Sam on at their athletic events. He was the greatest armchair coach of all time for every TV sport he watched, but especially for his beloved Longhorns, Astros, and Spurs.

Twenty months ago when Sam and Sarah married, he proudly gained a granddaughter.

Charlie was a member of Waldeck Lutheran Church. We want to acknowledge and thank Pastor David Tinker for his many visits, prayer, and communion with Pop during his time in Pflugerville.

Charlie is survived by his son, Scott Richter of Georgetown, and wife, Susie; grandsons: Jordan Richter and Sam Richter and his wife, Sarah; sister, Annie Cook of La Grange; sisters-in-law: Sharon Richter of Cypress, Verlene Hobratschk of La Grange, Mary Ann Hofferek of Smithville, and Betty Richter of Winchester; and brotherin- law, Laniel Wolff and wife, Sharon. Charlie is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mamie Jean (Wolff) Richter as well as his parents, Karl and Olga Richter; brothers: Clarence and Edgar Richter; sisters: Irene Richter and Evelyn Mertink; and brothers-in-law: Harry Cook, Robert Hofferek, and Wallace Hobratschk.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan 28, 2023 at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Waldeck Lutheran Church at 6915 Waldeck Church Ln. in Ledbetter. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon on Jan. 28, 2023 at Waldeck Lutheran Church.

Burial will follow at Waldeck Cemetery at 7191 Waldeck Cemetery Rd in Round Top. Following Burial, a luncheon will be served at Waldeck Lutheran church in Ledbetter.

Charlie’s go-to outfits were flannel shirts and sweatpants, so please feel free to wear a flannel shirt to his celebration of life. He would like that!

Our family would like to extend our thanks to John Hairgrove, Shannon Baggett and staff at Wells Point Lodge Assisted Living for loving and caring for our Pop. A special thank you to Marvelia Perez for assisting Charlie these last four months. Your love, care and lunches at Southside BBQ made Pop very happy!

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any hospice of your choice or the Waldeck Lutheran Church in Ledbetter.

Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals. com.
