Funeral services for Gloria Reuter, 87 of Stafford, are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with Rev. Jen Kindsvatter and Tim Pitts officiating. Burial will follow at the Loewe Family Cemetery in Carmine.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings and on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. The family will be present for visitation Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Gloria passed away on Feb. 15, 2025, in Giddings.

GloriaAnn Virginia (Sommer) Reuter was born onApril 20, 1937 in Ledbetter to John Ernest and Ida (Loewe) Sommer. She was baptized on Oct. 10, 1937 and confirmed on Sept. 24, 1950, both at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine.

She was a graduate of Giddings High School and married the love of her life, Wilburn William Reuter, on April 22, 1956 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine.

Gloria and Wilburn moved to Houston then later to Stafford where they raised their three children. During that time, Gloria worked for 46 years at various companies before retiring from EIM Valve Actuators in 2013.

She loved baking (best known for both her delicious sand tart cookies and rice krispie treats), dancing, raising her family, and taking care of her husband. She enjoyed working on the farm that she was raised on. Her favorite past times were humming her favorite songs, sweeping, and sewing.

She will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren as a loving, dedicated, caring Mom and Granny with a heart of gold who always put other’s needs before her own.

Preceding Gloria in death is her husband Wilburn of almost 60 years; her parents, John Ernest and Ida Loewe Sommer; her brother J.E. Sommer, and her sisters Dorothy Lehmann, Joyce Lehmann, and LaVerne Kunkel.

Gloria is survived by three children, Steven Reuter and wife Debra of Houston, Sandra Stockwell of Stafford, and Terry Reuter and wife Karla of Stafford; brother and sister-in-law, Lyndon and Betty Sommer of Tomball; nine grandchildren, Stephanie and Allen Rollins of Hockley, Candace and Blaze Acord of Brookshire, Jessica and Jose Kelley of Houston, Catherine and Earl Woodring III of West, Nikolas Reuter of Houston, Nikole Reuter of Houston, Ryan Stockwell of Stafford, Stephanie Scott of Florida, David and Anna Albright of Houston; eleven great grandchildren, Hayes Acord, Earl Woodring IV, Henry Woodring, Matthew Rollins, Cannon Woodring, Kailyn Stockwell, Raylin Stockwell, Bentlee Stockwell, Blake Scott, Shaun Scott, and Jensen Albright along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nikolas Reuter, Ryan Stockwell, Allen Rollins, Blaze Acord, Jose Kelley, and Earl Woodring IV. Honorary pallbearer will be David Albright Memorials may be made to the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Carmine, or to the charity of one’s choice.
