Ruben lbo Ramirez, Jr., 65, of La Grange, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at his residence.

Ruben was born in Houston on Feb. 21, 1958, the son of Ruben lbo Ramirez, Sr., and Carolyn Harrell Ramirez.

He married Marsha (Nettles) Adams on Oct. 25, 2006.

He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1976 to 1980.

Ruben worked as a mechanic for La Grange Transmission for Donnie and Connie Crisler for several years.

He loved Nascar and his favorite Nascar drivers were Dale Earnhart, Sr. and Dale Earnhart, Jr. Ruben enjoyed watching cooking, racing and western shows on TV. He was always very handy and knew how to fix things. There was no quit in him. Ruben was a devoted father, valued his friendships and was the kind of person that never met a stranger.

He was a member of the Wounded Warrior Association and a supporter of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse.

Ruben is survived by two daughters, Ashley Ramirez of Ganado and Rachelle Carter; one son, Ruben Ramirez III, and wife, Christina, of Lake Jackson; two sisters, Lori Crawford and Cheryl Brauner; one granddaughter, Remi Ramirez and two grandsons, Wyatt and Jacob Ramirez.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Marsha; parents, Ruben Ramirez, Sr., and Carolyn Ramirez; and uncle, Rosco.

A visitation will be held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 3 to 7 p.m. Military honors will be rendered at 6:30 p.m. during the visitation.
