Michael David Polasek, 49, of Nechanitz, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2023 at his residence.

Michael was born in La Grange on March 13, 1973 to David Polasek and Beatrice Weishuhn. When Michael was 10, his father married Susie Herbrich, who would become a special part of his life.

Michael’s greatest joy was his family. On July 15, 2000, he married Dana Kneip, and they had two boys: Kevin and Jacob. Michael was a devoted son, husband, and father. He loved watching his boys play sports and attending family gatherings. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and looked forward to his trips to the deer lease and the weekends on the river. Michael had many friends- he hardly met a person who didn’t become a friend. He loved getting to know people and sharing stories with them. Michael valued God, treating people with kindness, and working hard.

Michael graduated from La Grange High School in 1991. While still in high school, he began working at La Grange Ford. He spent more than 30 years working there, many as the Body Shop Manager. He was respected by many for the work he did and the kindness he showed others.

He is survived by his wife Dana, of 22 years, and two sons: Kevin and Jacob Polasek; parents, David and Susie (Herbrich) Polasek of La Grange; mother-in-law, Nila Kneip of Round Top; sister-in-law, Julie Leopold and husband, Scott of Columbus; brother-in-law, Matthew Kneip and wife, Crystie of Sealy; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces. and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Frank and Earlene Polasek, Clarence and Bernice Weishuhn, and Clinton and Rosemary Herbrich; and father-in-law, Ronald Kneip.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl, La Grange. The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
