Placke

Funeral services for Ruth Placke, 93, of Giddings, were held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner and Rev. Joshua Hahn officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Ruth Anna Alvina (Melcher) Placke was born on April 2, 1933, in Schattel to Otto Max Melcher and Ella Melinda (Symank) Melcher.

Ruth passed away the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at her home in Giddings.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Linda Ruth Placke of Giddings; her son and daughter- in-law, George and Elizabeth Placke of Schulenburg; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Quilting Group in Giddings.
