Libby (Kokes) Geistmann, 88, of New Ulm, passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2026.

She was born to Ludvik and Agnes (Muras) Kokes on Oct. 25, 1937. Libby attended school at Hostyn, near La Grange. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Growing up with five sisters and one brother on the family farm, Libby learned many things that she would need later in life. At a young age she worked on the farm, cleaned houses and worked at A&P Grocery in La Grange. On April 5, 1970, she married Herbert Geistmann at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. They moved to Houston and had three boys Daniel, Kenneth, and Ronnie.

After the passing of her husband, Libby worked for West End Elementary in the cafeteria from 1983-1991. Libby also serves as a CCE teacher for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She then went to work for the Trinity Medical Center in the cafeteria. She retired in 2005. Her love for cooking for people did not stop when she retired. She spent many hours making her famous Apple Strudels, coffee cakes, and cookies for charity auctions, organizations, church functions, family and friends.

She spent many weekends working at the Industry Fireman’s Hall for dances and events. Libby also enjoyed making baby pillows and quilts for family members and close friends.

Libby was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Industry. She spent many years as a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the KJT society #46 of La Grange and KJZT #47 of Industry and auxiliary of the Industry Fire Department.

She is survived by three sons, Daniel Geistmann and friend, Cheryl Natah of Red Bluff California, Kenneth Geistmann of New Ulm, and Ronnie Geistmann and wife, Tracey of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Riley Geistmann and wife, Rowan of East Hampton, Massachusetts and Coy Geistmann; and granddaughter, Katie Geistmann both of Fayetteville; brotherin- law, Glenn Geistmann and wife, Pat of Fayetteville; along with numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and special friends, Neely Vasicek, Bernice Ripple, Cindy Pilcik, Chris Koebelen and Della Bentancur.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludvik and Agnes Kokes; husband, Herbert Geistmann; sisters, Mary Kokes, Helen and husband, Fred Machac, Theresa and husband, Raymond Jozwiak, Rose and husband, Anton Recek; brother, Joe and wife, Mary Ann Kokes; niece, Michelle Recek; nephews, David Machac and Bubba Hluchan; mother and father-in-law, Anton and Elenora Geistmann; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Betty Ann Geistmann; and nephew Matthew Geistmann.

The family expresses their deep gratitude to their neighbors, friends and parish members for the many prayers and cards and visits while Libby spent her last few months at Monument Hill nursing home.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Industry with the family present at this time to receive friends. A vigil will be held from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Industry. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers are: Dale Rinn, Dwayne Gross, Mike Drab, Gregg Schubert, John Spiess, and Wayne Jozwiak and serving as honorary pallbearers are: Riley, Coy, Katie Geistmann.
