Pavlik
Robert Anton Pavlik “Butch”, 85, of La Grange, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.
Robert was born in Houston on Oct. 7, 1939, the son of Karel and Mary Lucy (Collerain) Pavlik.
Robert was a graduate of St. John School in Fayetteville. He married Genelda Hobratschk on Oct. 29, 1966, in La Grange.
Robert, also known as “RAP” to his coworkers, worked in maintenance and then as an Inspector for United Airlines, previously known as Trans Texas Airways, Texas International Airlines, and Continental Airlines for 38 years, retiring in 2003. He served his country during the Vietnam War and continued his service for 20+ years, considering himself “always a Marine” until his death.
After his retirement, he and Genelda moved to La Grange in 2003. He was very active in several community organizations during that time: Commander of the VFW No. 5254, Commandant and founding member of the Colorado Valley Marine Corps League Detachment 1028, Director of the Noon Lions’ Club of La Grange, President of COP/ CPAAA, President of Flags across La Grange, and President of the Community Emergency Response Team. Robert was also a volunteer at Second Chance and AMEN, Citizens on Patrol and represented the veterans of Fayette County delivering donations to the Wounded Warriors and to the Family Support Center in San Antonio.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, serving in the Men’s Club and was a committee member of the cemetery group.
Perhaps most important, Robert (affectionately known as Daddy, Dad, Butch, Uncle Butch and Grandpa) always put his family first in his life.
He enjoyed spending time with family and loved to babysit his grandchildren. His favorite hobby was playing dominoes, where he always smiled and most of the time won in “42” and straight dominoes. If he was playing with family and had a beer or a glass of wine while playing, he was especially happy.
He is survived by his wife, Genelda Pavlik; son, James Pavlik and wife, Amy; two daughters: Marsha Wood; Kimberly Schleider and husband, Michael; grandchildren: Katie Wood; Jordan Wood; David Wood; James Schleider and wife, Caroline; Stacie Bullock and husband, Landon; Cayla Pavlik and Connor Pavlik; and great grandchildren: Auburn Bullock, Emberlynn Bullock, Aspen Bullock, Jackson Bullock; brother, William Pavlik.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Theresa Roensch, Mary Zajack, Nonie Joe Hlinski, and Jerrydene Kovar; and three brothers: Eddie Pavlik, Alfred Pavlik, and Karel Pavlik.
