Miertschin
Amanda Irene Buscha Miertschin, 91 of Dripping Springs was called home on Thursday, April 17, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1934, in La Grange, to Laura Giese Buscha and William Henry Buscha. She was raised on the family farm in Rabbs Prairie, surrounded by the love of her parents, her sister Ellen, and her brother Benjamin. Life on the farm instilled in her a deep sense of family, faith, hard work, and the simple joys of life— values she would carry with her forever.
Amanda met her high school sweetheart, Clinton (C.R.) Miertschin, at La Grange High School. Their love story began in those youthful days and blossomed into a remarkable 72-year marriage filled with adventure, resilience, and enduring devotion. Together, they built a life rooted in love—raising two children, Laurie and Bill, and creating memories across Texas and beyond.
As a young wife, Amanda traveled alongside C.R. during his service in the Air Force and supported him as he pursued his college degree. Their journey took them to Washington, Mississippi, England and eventually Texas. In Texas they lived in Yoakum, Borger, La Marque and Austin—where Amanda was always a steadfast presence in their community, church, and children’s schools. She had a gift for friendship and touched lives wherever she went. Amanda worked for many years at the Texas Employment Commission, where her dedication and warmth left a lasting impression. She later cherished her retirement years, especially the time spent with her beloved grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, whom she adored.
Amanda was the heart of her family—a woman remembered by all who knew her as sweet, beautiful, kind, loving, and faithful. She was a true role model and a gentle, fun-loving soul whose strength and grace left an imprint on everyone she met.
She is survived by her devoted husband, C.R.; her daughter, Laurie Mackey and husband Eric; her son, Bill Miertschin and wife Heidi; and her grandchildren: Jared Francis and wife Casey, Mandi Roarke and husband Kevin, Katy Lyn Smith and husband Collin, Laura Miertschin, and Willie Miertschin. Amanda also leaves behind five cherished great-grandchildren: Harper Eddins, Jadi Jo Roarke, Rustin Francis, Olivia Smith and Hays Francis.
Amanda’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the family she nurtured. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 17, 11 .a.m, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 10408 Hwy. 290 West, Austin.
