Funeral services for David Michael, 54 of Northrup, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

David Charles Michael was born on Jan. 14, 1970 in La Grange, the son of Leroy Charles Michael and Pat Ann (Wiemken) Michael. He was baptized on Feb. 1, 1970 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange by Rev. Alvin Wolter and confirmed on May 20, 1984 also at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church by Rev. Walter C. Harting. His confirmation verse was Matthew 21:22, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” David attended school in La Grange and graduated from La Grange High School in 1988. He attended Blinn College in Brenham, receiving his associates degree in 1990. David met Susan Krause while playing volleyball in 1992. They were united in marriage on April 9, 1994 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Paul Hartfield.

David worked for Trelleborg, formerly Leeco Industrial Plastics, for the past 27 years. David was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin where he served on the Picnic Committee and the Finance Committee. He was an active member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Lee County Ducks Unlimited, the South Lee County Wildlife Association, and a founding member of the Lee County Sportsman’s Scholarship Association. David’s love for sports was seen through the countless hours of coaching he did for Erin and Nathan’s sports teams while they were in school. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing anything that involved the outdoors. He was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends.

David passed away unexpectedly the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at Ascension Seton Health Center in Smithville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Michael and his mother-in-law, Edna Krause.

David is survived by his wife, Susan Michael of Northrup; twochildren,ErinMichael of Houston and Nathan Michael of Northrup; his mother, Pat Michael of La Grange; two sisters, Lisa and David Hernandez of La Grange and Deborah and Steven Bertsch of Fayetteville; his brother, Ken and Keri Michael of La Grange; his father-in-law, Ludwig Krause of Northrup; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Rick Sawyer of Brandon, Miss., Debra and Jim Carter of Cypress, and Peggy and Hunter Schappaugh of Houston; three brothers-in-law, Daniel and Pam Krause of Serbin, Michael and Teresa Krause of Serbin, and Curtis and Lyndy Krause of Giddings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Troy Behrens, John Hinze, Warren Jatzlau, Mark Jones, Craig Oltmann, Gary Oltmann, Brad Schmidt, and Charlie Vahrenkamp. Honorary pallbearers were David’s fellow employees at Trelleborg.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, the Lee County Sportsman’s Scholarship Association, or to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
