Mechura

E.E. “Gene” Mechura passed away on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, in Houston, at the age of 91 years.

Dad was born on June 20, 1930 in La Grange, to Frank Mechura and Emma Emilie Ermis Mechura. On March 5, 1951, he married the love of his life, Ruth Mae Renken in Yoakum. In 1966, Gene graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Dad was a purchasing agent for Shell Oil for 35 years but often claimed his favorite job was selling Chevrolets for Anton Zaruba in Yoakum! He’s been retired for the last 31 years and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth Mechura of Katy; his children, Randy Mechura and his wife Marianne of La Grange, Connie Mechura Sacco and her husband Mark of La Grange, Cynthia Mechura of La Grange and Craig Patrick Mechura and his wife Natalie of Weimar; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Mechura and Emma Emilie Ermis Mechura; and his brother, Roger Mechura.

Interment in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston.
