McDaniel

Gary Neal McDaniel passed away surrounded by family on Dec. 8, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born in Houston on July 4, 1950 to Gilbert Hugh McDaniel and Emma Ruth Sears. Gary was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He married Gay Lynn Wolff on Aug. 8, 1970 and they began their life together in Houston.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Gary worked for Houston Light & Power for over 30 years as an electrician. Additionally, at the age of 21, Gary and Gay Lynn started their own business, McDaniel Air Conditioning. He developed personal relationships with his customers and called many of them his close friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Gay Lynn; his loving parents; his uncle, John McDaniel, his two brothers, Larry McDaniel and Roy McDaniel; and his nephew, Kevin McDaniel.

He is survived by his two sons, Gary and Michelle McDaniel, and Bryan and Heather McDaniel; and his cherished grandchildren, Lauren McDaniel, Jack McDaniel, Chris McDaniel, Sophia McDaniel and Sidney McDaniel. He also leaves behind his two beloved sisters, Donna Jean Rutland and Wally Rutland, and Debra Ann Campbell and Glenn Campbell as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Gary loved to stay busy whether it was running his air conditioning business, taking care of his yard, or going to the family farm in Round Top, Texas. He could often be found on his classic 1985 blue Ford tractor at the farm. His commitment to hard work will be his legacy to live on through his family.
