Mayer
Graveside services for Rebecca Mayer, 63 of Round Top, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Mayer Cemetery in Burton with Rev. John David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayer Cemetery.
Rebecca Brau Mayer was born on Feb. 23, 1962 in Houston, the daughter of Vernon and Billie (Bell) Brau. She graduated from El Campo High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. After graduating from A&M, Becca began a career in teaching, first at Immanuel Lutheran School in Giddings and eventually Round Top-Carmine ISD.
Throughout her years in education, she touched the lives of hundreds of students through her kindness, patience, compassion, and love for each of them. Her caring spirit and generous heart, helped to better the lives of many of her more needy students as well as the community as a whole.
Becca had served as the Executive Director of the Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation for several years, was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, and was active in other organizations that supported the Round Top and Carmine communities.
When Becca retired from teaching, she owned and operated Mimibella in Round Top for several years. The store gave her the ability to do two of her favorite things, visiting with people and shopping. She currently was working at CHI St. Joseph Rehab Center in Brenham. It was on her way home from work on Thursday, June 5, 2025 that Becca passed away unexpectedly from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident.
Though Becca’s time here now seems way too brief, the impact she had on the lives of her students and the community will continue for generations to come. She may no longer be here physically, but the effects of who she was and the contributions of what she did for each of those whose lives she touched will always remain.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Vernon Brau.
Becca’s life revolved around her family and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with them, especially her two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Clayton Mayer of Round Top; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Kelsey Mayer of Whitesboro; her two grandchildren, Maddyn and Miller Mayer of Whitesboro; her mother, Billie Brau of Round Top, as well as several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In keeping with Becca’s wishes and lifelong efforts to support the community and those who are less fortunate, rather than sending flowers, the Mayer family recommends making memorial contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements by Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
