Mamilyn (McManus) Ellison, 83, of La Grange, passed away peacefully on Feb. 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1941, in Burleson County, Caldwell, to Sam Milton Mc-Manus and Sara Virginia Newcomb, and was raised with strong family values, kindness, and a heart full of love.

On June 26, 1959, Mamilyn married the love of her life, Henry Dean Ellison, in Rockdale. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 53 wonderful years of marriage until Henry’s passing on Sept. 12, 2012.

Their love and devotion to one another set a lasting example for their family. Mamilyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her three sons: Russell Ellison and wife, Mary, of Antioch, Calif.; Bruce Ellison of La Grange; and Bradley Ellison and wife, Claudia, of Houston. She also leaves behind her brothers, G. Oren McManus of McDade, and Vance McManus of Caldwell; her sister, Lottiejane Morton of Black Jack; eight grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren, all of whom she adored.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Dean Ellison; her parents; her brothers, Ned McManus and Fred McManus; her sister, Sammye Smith; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Ellison.

Mamilyn had a warm and giving spirit, always putting others before herself. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and a home-cooked meal. If you ever left her table hungry, it was by choice—she always made enough to feed a crowd. Her kindness, hospitality, and unwavering courtesy made her beloved by all who knew her.

She never met a stranger who wasn’t welcomed like family, and her love for others was evident in everything she did. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her home and into her career as an OB nurse at Fayette Memorial Hospital, where she worked for many years. Caring for newborns and their mothers was the perfect role for her, as she had a deep love for babies and found great joy in welcoming new life into the world.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared and the lessons she imparted will live on through the generations she leaves behind.

A memorial service will be held on Feb. 22, 2025 at 1 p.m. at La Grange Church of Christ. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Mamilyn to join in celebrating her life.
