Lyle Joy Ruth Cox Lyle entered her eternal resting place early on Feb. 8, 2024.

She was born April 4, 1963, in Victoria to the parents of Wayne Allen Cox Sr. and Dorothy Marie Cox Casimir (Dollery). She was raised in Bay City where she attended grade school. During that time, she met her forever sweetheart, James “Jim” Eastman Lyle, at 12 years old. A year later, they joined their lives as one on April 6, 1978. Joy graduated from Bay City High School in 1982 and briefly attended Victoria College. While attending college, she worked at J.C. Penney, where she found a passion for retail and communicating with community members.

In 1986, she gave birth to her son, James Alexander Lyle I, in Victoria. While raising James, she loved taking him to Riverside Park, where they would walk. She enjoyed her time in Victoria with Jim and James. A few years later, they moved to La Grange, where they currently reside.

In 1996, Joy gave birth to her daughter, Jonna Annette Trevino (Lyle). Their family was complete. Joy Worked at Bealls in La Grange for 8.5 years until she switched to home health care. Joy loved taking care of others. She had a huge heart and the sweetest soul and would do anything to ensure everyone was happy.

After working in retail, she became a CNA nurse and began working at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Home, where she worked for over 10 years. She loved her time working in Schulenburg. In 2018, she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. It would have been 5 years of remission this coming June. She was a fighter and a Survivor.

You would find Joy at every school function for her children. She was very supportive of her husband and children in everything they did. She was best known around town as Mrs. Claus around Christmas. She loved the Lord dearly and devoted her life to Jesus at a young age. She was raised in the Pentecostal and Baptist church. She loved rock-n-roll music and the movie Dirty Dancing. In her spare time, she loved going to the beach, fishing, cross-stitching, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoying life. She was a hard worker and never let any obstacle get in her way. She would always say, “Give it to God”. She was tough and full of joy, just like her name.

Joy is preceded in death by both of her parents, Wayne Allen Cox Sr. and Dorothy Marie Casimir (Dollery); her in-laws, Effie Eastman Johns and William Alexander Lyle Sr.; her sister, Estella Marie Cox; her brother-in-law, William Alexander Lyle Jr.; her uncle, Henry Monroe Dollery Jr.; and her cousins, Virginia Privitt and Robert John Privitt Jr.
