Leonhardt
Alwood (Big Al) Albert Leonhardt of Rosenberg, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025. He was born in Burton on Sept. 23, 1939. He grew up on a farm in Round Top. He graduated from Round Top/Carmine High School in 1958. He was baptized on Feb. 18, 1940 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was Confirmed on April 11, 1954.
He met the love of his life Henrietta Noak and was married on Oct. 8, 1960. They started their life together in Round Top living and working on a Dairy. Later they had three children and made a happy home in Rosenberg. Al worked for WKM in Missouri City for many years as a welder and then at Cooper Industries as a machinist. He retired from Gurecky Manufacturing in 2008. After retiring he dedicated his time to Al’s Woodshop. He made many swings, furniture, cedar chests and lot of items for many friends and family. He worshipped at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rosenberg for many years.
Al’s family was the utmost importance to him. Al is survived by his wife of 64 years of marriage, Henrietta Leonhardt. He is also survived by his daughter, Teresa Zuehlke (Lloyd Zuehlke), son Randall Leonhardt; daughterin- law, Debbie Jones; sister, Donna Kunkel (Al Duane); and brother-in-law, Robert Leonhardt; grandchildren, Tamara Twidell (Michael), April Zwahr (Josh), Tara Brawley (Matt), Lenzie Leonhardt (Ryan) and Kaylee Leonhardt. Great-grandchildren, Zoey, Tucker and Owen Twidell, Piersyn Zwahr, Mason Brawley, Gaige Wrichard and Gavin Howard.
He was proceeded in death by his son, Bradley Leonhardt, his parents, Bennie and Lucille Leonhardt and sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and OB Schoenemann.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael Twidell, Josh Zwahr, Matt Brawley, Ryan Howard, Mike Jurek and Tommy Minks. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Leonhardt and Alfonse Kresta.
Services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 1208 Fifth Street, Rosenberg, on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Visitation was held from 9-10 a.m. The service followed at 10 a.m. A graveside service was held at Richter Cemetery in Round Top at 2:30 p.m.
