Lehmann
Mary Ruth (Reinhardt) Lehmann, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 93, of Winchester, went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 8, 2024.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1930, in Winchester to Alma (Farrack) and Martin Reinhardt, the second of four children. She married Arnold Lehmann on Sept. 18, 1949, in Winchester.
Mary worked beside her husband, Arnold in the fields and caring for the farm daily. She was an amazing cook, working for Ray’s Café in Smithville, Ted’s Sweet Shop in Giddings, Mickie’s Café and Country Basket in Winchester until she retired. You could also find her cooking for many events outside of the restaurants on weekends.
She was an avid quilter, putting together quilts for the Winchester community auctions and making sure each of her kids and grandchildren had a quilt, not quite getting to all the great grandchildren due to her hands failing her ability to continue quilting. Hand tacking was the only way for her quilting. Spending countless hours with her ladies’ group at church tacking quilts together to donate was her enjoyment. She always looked forward to her social events with her family and friends, dessert waiting.
Growing up, her children always came home from school to a warm homemade dessert. The freezer was consistently full of pies, homemade noodles and her famous sugar cookies which she baked in huge portions. The holidays never went by without her baking fruit cakes and ice box cookies. Each event would have the family squabbling over who was going to receive the last of her scrumptious coffee cakes. Christmas gifts consisted of an assortment of her cookies in gallon containers.
Mary is survived by four children: Mary Burns and husband, Howard Jr.; Joyce Herzog; Connie Taylor and husband, Keith and Kenneth Lehmann and wife, Stacye; Granny/Memaw: Christie Otto and husband, Wayne; Howard Burns III and Ashlee; Amber Cruickshank and husband, Rob; Jared Lehmann and wife, Ashley; Jonathan Lehmann and wife, Jordan; Shane Herzog and wife, Trish: Dana Srubar; Byron Taylor and wife, Stephanie; Morgan Nutt and husband, Connor; Skylar Noak and husband, Jordan; Sterlyn Curles and husband, Colton; great grandchildren: Lane, Brooke and Addison Otto; Kennedy and Kase Cruickshank; Brandon, Oliver Lehmann and Zoe Saldana; Jadynn, Jacey and Jordyn Lehmann; Paytin and Page Srubar; Lilly Herzog; Asher and Stetson Noack and Sawyer and Rhett Curles; sister, Gertrude Hobratschk; brother, Monroe Reinhardt and wife, Betty; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
