Charles Malcolm “Mac” Lamascus, Jr. was born March 11, 1946 in Houston to Charles Malcolm “Pat” Lamascus and LaVerne (Schutze) Lamascus. He passed away March 7, 2021.

Mac was a lifelong resident of Schulenburg. He graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1964. He attended Texas A&M University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science in 1968. He married JoNell Hablinski on July 13, 1968. After they married, Mac and JoNell lived in Seguin for a short period, and then moved to Schulenburg where they raised their family.

Mac spent the majority of his life running Lamascus Farms as a dairy farmer, beef cattle operator, egg producer, and hay producer. After his retirement from farming in 2004, he began his teaching career at SISD as a middle school science teacher until his second retirement in 2018.

Mac was an involved member of the Schulenburg community serving in numerous organizations. He was a former SISD school board member and president. He was also active with the Schulenburg Young Farmers/Texas State Chapter, Schulenburg CO-OP, Schulenburg FFA and 4-H. He currently served on the Schulenburg Jr. Livestock Board. He also currently served as a Fayette County Election Judge and was a former board member of the Fayette County Appraisal District. He was very active at Zion Lutheran Church, serving as Trustee for many years and served on the Voters Assembly contributing both his computer skills as well as construction skills as the church and parsonage grew over the years.

He loved hunting, fishing, cruising and golfing in his spare time and was an avid Aggie football fan.

Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 13, 2001 at 10 a.m. followed by interment in the Schulenburg City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bruce Wagner, Jonathan Wagner, Kevin Simpson, James Hablinski, Michael Kuhn, Clifton Kuhn, Will Kuhn, and Lance Machicek.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, JoNell; his daughters Dana Wagner, husband Bruce; Erin Simpson, husband Kevin; son Ryan Lamascus; grandchildren Jonathan and Jillian Wagner, Kayden and Karsyn Simpson, Jessica Douglas and DeAnna Lamascus; and his great-granddaughter Luna Degati. He is also survived by his brother Rick Lamascus, wife Claudia; brother-inlaw James Hablinski, wife Patty; sister-in-law Theresa Kuhn, husband Michael; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and LaVerne Lamascus.
