Kovar

Ferdinand “Freddy” Leon Kovar, 70, of Plum entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021.

Freddy was born in La Grange on Nov. 7, 1950 and grew up in the small community of Egypt, Texas located close to Plum. He was the son of the late Alvin F. Kovar and Elizabeth (Polasek) Garcia.

Freddy attended La Grange High School and was a part of the graduating class of 1969.

He served honorably in the United States Army. Freddy was drafted in July of 1970 and served in Germany until he was discharged in January of 1971.

He worked as a contractor in La Grange and within the surrounding area for forty-four years. Freddy loved building houses, and it showed as he took great pride in his work.

Freddy loved spending time with his family and friends. They would always expect he would either have a funny joke to tell or a witty “one liner” or sarcastic comeback to any conversation you would have with Freddy. Freddy truly loved life. It brought him great joy to make someone laugh or smile.

Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. Freddy also enjoyed playing dominoes with his buddies.

Freddy is survived by his three children: Matt Kovar and wife, Celia of La Grange; Cody Kovar and Cassidy Kovar of La Grange; five grandchildren: Macey, Caeley and Kaden Kovar; Daeshawn Hutchinson and Darius Steward; one brother, Eugene Kovar of Pasadena; one sister, Maria Howell and husband, Michael of Liberty; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sarah Kovar; and brother, Larry Kovar.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the La Grange High School Graduating Class of 1969 Remembrance Fund in honor of Freddy Kovar.
