Genelle Audrey Obermueller Kohutek was called home by her Heavenly Father on April 5, 2025. Genelle was born in Willow Springs on June 7, 1935 to Clarence G. Obermueller and Nellie L. Heinsohn. Genelle, being the 3rd generation was raised on her family’s farm in Willow Springs and the core values she learned in her early years at the farm served her throughout her life.

Genelle graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1953 and continued her education graduating from Blinn College. Genelle became a banker and served for many years at First National Bank of Temple, leaving for a year to serve as Administration Assistant to Congressman William Robert Poage in Washington D.C.

In 1975, Genelle married Franklin Henry Kohutek on Aug. 6 in Temple. She and Franklin valued their friends, hosting parties and traveling.

Everyone who knew Genelle knew she loved unconditionally- Her God, her family, her friends, her colleagues, her Texas A&M Aggies and her animals. She embraced life and her interest with gusto and enthusiasm. Her many paintings will keep her memories alive in the homes of friends and family. You never heard her complain and although she was good at everything she did, she always shown the light on others, rather than herself.

Genelle was predeceased by her husband, Franklin H. Kohutek, her parents Clarence and Nellie Obermueller, her sisters, Clarice Imogene Obermueller Davis and Marion Louise Obermueller Henkhaus.

She is survived by her stepson John Kohutek and wife Mona, her three step-daughters Shelia Ryan, Charlotte Sorge, Suzanne Niekamp, grandchildren Gretchen Ryan, Adam Ryan and wife Molly, Nathan Ryan and wife Nicole, Cain Kohutek, Emileigh Hebert and husband Charlie, August Beverly and husband Ben, and Annie Sorge.
