Kocurek

John Wayne Kocurek was born in Hallettsville on March 23, 1946 to Anton and Grace Matthews Kocurek (deceased). He was raised in La Grange and attended La-Grange High School, graduating in 1964. At a 10 year Class Reunion, John became re-acquainted with Mary Ann Gersch. Two years later, on June 26, 1976, they were married at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. They resided in Houston, where they raised their children Monte and Barbara. John was very proud of his 33 years with Texaco Computer Service and Operations as the computer IT guy. He retired in 2000 and spent his time outside, tinkering, cooking, helping others, going back to the country in La Grange and dancing, dancing, dancing.

John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Kocurek; children, Monte Kocurek, and wife Rose (Giddings) and Barbara Trellue and husband John (Humble); grandchildren, Morgan Lamance and husband Patrick (Conroe), Emily Trellue (Humble) and Christine Trellue (Humble); great grandchildren, Patrick Lamance, Jr. (Conroe) and Lyla Lamance (Conroe); siblings, Franklin Kocurek and wife Jeanette (LaGrange) and Margaret Grohman (League City); sisters- in-law, Suzanne Kocurek Maddox (Dan), Irma Gersch, Donna Gersch, Ginny Gersch; brothers-in-law, Daniel Gersch, Sherwood Gersch and wife Rhoda.

He is also survived by dear Jacklyn Bartosh (cousin), many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

John is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Virginia Seay and Raymond Seay, Roy Kocurek and Virginia “Cookie” Kocurek, Robert Kocurek and Fanny Kocurek, Donald Kocurek, Patsy Starling and Mike Starling. Also, brothers-in-law, Paul Gersch and Walter Gersch and Ralph Grohman.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home, 17404 W. Lake Houston Pkwy, Humble. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Winchester City Cemetery, FM 153, Winchester.

Services are under the direction of Rosewood Funeral Home.
