He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all those who call him Dad, Pop, Conrad, James or Mr. Kay.

The Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Toby Kay, Jeremy Kay, James Kay, Morgan Kay, Jason Kay and Darrell Briney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, Texas or the charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange.

Kay Funeral services for James Conrad (Pop) Kay, 94 of Muldoon, will be held Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home in La Grange with Pastor Jeff Stinson officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Pitman Cemetery in Muldoon.

James was born to the late Wiley Luke Kay and Effie “Minnie” Johnson on Aug. 18, 1930, in Reagan, the youngest of seven children. He passed away peacefully at his home in Muldoon on Nov. 24, 2024. He married Scharlett Haynes on Aug. 19, 1950, raising seven boys together.

James was predeceased by his parents, his wife Scharlett and his sons, James Larry Kay, Craig Alan Kay and Bryan Keith Kay.

He leaves behind four sons, Blayne Conrad Kay and wife Karen, Carrol Wayne Kay and wife Trisha, Ricky Linn Kay and wife Brenda and Donald Warren Kay, and two daughters-in-law, Kathy Kay and Sherry Kay, and adopted friend, John Laxson. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, 23 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many friends.

He was an electrician, working on the South Texas Nuclear Power Plant near Bay City, Houston I.S.D. as well as in the La Grange area. He loved riding motorcycles and toured much of the western United States. He loved talking about all the trips he took with his wife, family and friends. He was a fixture at the Riverside Café where he loved aggravating the waitresses especially Kat.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Deborah Williams for taking such good care of our father during the last months of his life. Words cannot express our appreciation for her loving and caring heart.
