Richard Allen Kaspar, 66, of La Grange, passed through death to his Eternal Father on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023.

Richard was born in La Grange on Nov. 10, 1956, the third child to Aurleen (Keilers) Kaspar and John F. Kaspar. He was baptized into the Christian faith on Nov. 17, 1956 and later confirmed on April 20, 1969. Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Shupak on Jan. 2, 2000, in Nelsonville.

Richard loved working from the time he was able to get his hands on tools. He was in construction for over 44 years and he deeply enjoyed his work and time spent on countless numbers of job sites throughout the years. Construction was his biggest passion and he loved it throughout his whole life.

Richard enjoyed watching sporting events with his family, watching all the activities his children participated in, watching his beloved John and Jodie succeed in school, and hunting and fishing. But his favorite thing was spending time with the people he loved so dearly.

Richard is survived by his wife of 23 years, whom he adored, Dorothy (Shupak) Kaspar, his 16 year old twins which he loved so dearly, son, John, and daughter, Jodie, and daughter, Amanda Emrick, son-in-law Brian, and grandson, Cayton. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-laws: Jeffrey Kaspar, and wife, Melissa of Brady; David Kaspar, and wife, Susan of La Grange; Gregory Kaspar, and wife, Lisa of Industry; and Paul Kaspar, and wife, Jackie of Missouri City. He is also survived by brotherin- laws: Roger Wubbenhorst, of Dime Box; Gary Shupak of Bleiblerville; and Terry Shupak, and wife, Laurie also of Bleiblerville. Richard is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whom all had a special place in his big heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Ben and Gloria (Rinn) Shupak; sister, Patricia (Kaspar) Wubbenhorst; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Camp Lone Star in La Grange, Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Preschool, Nelsonville Brethren Church, or the charity of one’s choice.

The family expresses their gratitude for those by their side and are deeply thankful for everybody who has reached out a helping hand during this time. The immense support and sympathy to Dorothy and the kids during this time is very appreciated.
