Tara Kathryn (Kahanek) Kanady, 42, of Graham, N.C. passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020. She was born on May 16, 1978, in Houston, the daughter of Allen Wayne Kahanek and Kerry (McCurry) Kahanek.

Tara was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, niece, and friend. Tara graduated from Morrow High School in Morrow, Ga. in 1996. She then graduated from Alamance Community College, North Carolina, and received her Registered Nursing degree in 2003. Tara’s ambitious spirit led her to pursue a Master’s of Science in Nursing. She graduated with her Master’s degree in 2010 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her latest career was a nursing instructor at Alamance Community College. She loved her students and felt that teaching was what she was called to do.

Tara enjoyed traveling to new places, the outdoors, fishing, camping, and most of all going to the beach at her beloved Oak Island, N.C.

Most of all she loved and adored her family and friends. The love of her life, other than her family was Jesus. One of her missions in life was to bring as many people to Jesus as she could. She truly had the love of Jesus deep in her heart and anyone who met her could see that.

She is survived by her ador ing husband, Jarrod Kanady; children, Connor, Caleb, Gracie and Hayden (HayHay) of Graham, N.C.; parents, Allen and Kerry Kahanek of Graham, N.C.; sister: Erin Kahanek Herbrich and husband, Mike Herbrich and their children, Everly and Riley Belle of Ammannsville; brother-in-law, Bryson Kanady of Stephenville; uncles and aunts, Patrick McCurry and Vickie Byrd; Tommy McCurry; Lee and Mary Kahanek; Bill and Liz Kalinec, along with numerous cousins.

Tara is preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene and Francis Kahanek, Thomas and Marilyn McCurry; uncles, Shaun and Kevin McCurry; cousins, Chris McCurry and Melissa (Mazoch) Waibel.

Tara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In an abundance of caution due to the recent COVID-19 operating procedures, the funeral home will be following the recommendations of the Governor and County Judge. Face masks must be worn in the funeral home and church as well as social distancing up to six feet apart.

Visitation was held from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, and the family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home and Cremations located at 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at The Remnant Church, 2010 N. Von Minden Rd. in La Grange.

Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Ammannsville.
