Jurecka

Kenneth Patrick Jurecka, long-time friend and barber to many Fayette County residents, died Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kenneth grew up in Fayetteville and was the youngest of four boys. He married Nora Sunderhuse in 1971 and lived in Fayetteville until 1977, and then built a home in La Grange where they had two children, Dale and Kelly. He worked at Invader Boats in Giddings, a local steel company, Janssen Brothers Automotive Shop, and Consolidated Meat Market. He then became a local business owner after taking over the Zapp’s dry cleaning business. After owning the La Grange Cleaners for several years, he sold the business and eventually found his life’s calling with owning Ken’s Barber Shop.

He was an active member of the La Grange Knights of Columbus and enjoyed serving with his work group. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cattle ranching, and gambling with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Nora; son, Dale Jurecka and wife, Kristi; daughter, Kelly Laney and husband, Shawn; three grandchildren; brother, Gene Jurecka and wife, Mary Jean; brother, Lee Jurecka and wife, Ann; brother, Ray Jurecka; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lad and Olga Jurecka; Uncles, Jerome and Bob Jurecka, and Aunt, Mary Sodek.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home and Cremations in La Grange with family present between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to receive friends. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Hostyn. Burial will follow immediately after the funeral service at the La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter or a charity of one’s choice.
