Carroll Day (C.D.) Jenkins was born on March 23,1939 in Houston to Clifford Matthew Jenkins and Laura Modine (Dene) Pearson Jenkins. He grew up in Houston and graduated from John H. Reagan High School. He attended South Texas Junior College, Stephen F. Austin State College, and Blinn College.

From 1963-1965 he served in the United States Army as a radio relay and carrier operator. During those years he served in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Washington, California, Arizona, Hawaii, Wake Island, Okinawa, and Thailand. He worked at Kroger’s, Oak Forest Auto Service, Southwestern Bell, and South Texas Tripods and Feeders.

He was proud to be a life member of both the National Rifle Association and the Texas State Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, old cars, NHRA drag racing, western movies, waltzing, and Lone Star beer.

On June 15, 1968, he married Carol Jean Keilers from Round Top, and they were blessed with daughter Hollie Jean on Sept. 14, 1974.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, James C. Jenkins; sister-in-law, Sue Jenkins; niece, Dr. Carrie Sue Chow, and nephews, Roger Matthew Jenkins and Daniel Keilers.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years Carol Jenkins; daughter, Hollie Jenkins; son-in-law, Bret Fulkerson; grandchildren, Evelyn and Henry Jenkins; brother-in-law, Burney Keilers; sister-in-law, Doris Falkenberg (Gary); brother-inlaw, Ronnie Keilers (Karen); brother-in-law, Danny Keilers (Karen); nieces and nephews, Julie Rankin (David), Tracey Gergen (Matthew), Chris Jenkins, Dorothy Keilers, Cindy Wallace (Rusty), Craig Falkenberg (Marcela), Jason Falkenberg (Dee Dee), Brandon Keilers (Stephanie), Cody Keilers, and Katy Keilers.

The highlights above— written by him—cannot truly capture the greatness of the man he was. He was a gifted storyteller, a fierce protector of his family, and a mentor and teacher to countless friends and family members.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations of La Grange with the family present at this time to receive friends. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 4 p.m.
