Janda
Margie Ann Janda, age 73, passed away on March 21, 2024.
Born on Sept. 12, 1950, in La Grange, Margie was the daughter of Eugene and Edith (Walla) Muzny.
Margie was a beacon of joy and kindness in the lives of all who knew her. Her contagious laughter and warm presence will be profoundly missed.
A testament to love, devotion, and service, Margie was not only a beloved wife of 50 years to her husband Steve Janda but also a nurturing mother to her three adoring children: Stephanie Schwaller, Stephen Janda, and Sam Janda. The joy she found in her role expanded exponentially with the arrival of her precious grandchildren, Makayla Magee and Jackson Janda, who held a special place in her heart.
Professionally, Margie’s passion blossomed as the proud owner of Janda’s Garden Center in Clute, Texas, a local haven for garden enthusiasts. Her passion for botany was evident in every corner of her establishment, where she not only cultivated plants but also fostered community bonds and friendship. Her knowledge of flora was extensive, and she was always eager to share it with others. Margie’s dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her customers and employees, whom she treated like extended family.
Margie’s love for plants extended beyond her business. She had a particular talent for creating stunning flower arrangements and took great pleasure in growing a diverse array of plants at home. Her ferns, hibiscus, and geraniums were a source of beauty and tranquility, reflecting the care and attention she gave to all living things.
Active in various associations related to her profession, Margie showed her dedication to her community and her desire to make the world a more beautiful place through her love of nature.
In her leisure hours, Margie could be found tending to her home garden, where the vibrant colors and sweet fragrances were a testament to her skill and affection for her craft. Her home was a reflection of her spirit—a place where friends and family were always welcome, and where laughter and love were in constant bloom.
Margie’s philanthropic spirit shone brightly through her involvement with the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, a cause close to her heart.
An avid supporter of the Houston Astros, Margie’s love for baseball ran deep, rooted in memories of cheering on her father, brothers, husband, and all three of her children, as well as her grandchildren. Last year, she celebrated her 50th Wedding Anniversary at Minute Maid Park, surrounded by loved ones, reveling in the excitement of the game.
Margie’s legacy is one of love, beauty, and growth. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a world that is more vibrant and kind because of her presence. Her family takes comfort in knowing that just like the perennials she so cherished, her influence will continue to flourish in the hearts of those she loved.
Margie’s life will be celebrated in the cherished moments shared with family, the blossoming gardens she nurtured, and the hearts she touched. Though she may be gone, the seeds of joy and tenderness she planted will continue to thrive in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
