Carmen Virginia (Brennan) Humphreys, 84, of Muldoon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024. She was the daughter of Manson Lee Brennan and Velma Frances Scott Brenhan born Oct. 12, 1939, at Florence Nightengale Hospital in Dallas.

At the age of 9 years, she was baptized at Pleasant Mound Baptist Church in Dallas professing publicly her Christian faith.

She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She was active on the drill team and twirling a baton. She was always active in and attended church. She loved her Jesus!

She had a few jobs after graduating high school. She worked at Texas Instruments.

Married and cared well for her husband and children. When the children were in school, she started working the switchboard at Nationwide Papers in Arlington. She eventually found her spot in Forest Hills, owner and operator of “The Hair Corner” salon for 18 years.

Her sister, LaVerne, introduced her to the love of her life in October of 1989. They married in March 3, 1990. They lived happily in Del Rio. Attending and serving at Grace Community Church. Leon and Carmen were a delight to everyone who met them. They worked together owning and operating funeral homes in Del Rio and Brackettville. They also had several of her businesses that kept them working, serving and enjoying life.

Upon retirement, Leon and Carmen moved to La Grange. Carmen served at Second Chance Emporium setting up displays. She was a Purple Angel at St. Marks Hospital. She helped out with hair and makeup at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home. She lived in her Victorian dream home on South Main and attended Second Baptist Church where she met and nurtured life long relationships.

In December of 2015, after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease she and Leon moved out to Sacred Acres in Muldoon on the property with Terry and Rynie Robertson.

Carmen enjoyed several years of gardening, walking, decorating and making things pretty. She had a gift at that! She was very active, loving, kind, a great wife, mother, Granny and Gamma. She was a good cook, always smiling and laughing. She was truly filled with the joy of the Lord.

She was a member and beautiful part of the Remnant Church family.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney Leon Humphreys; son, Randy Dean Fleming and wife, Janet, of Paige; daughter, Rynie Rynea Robertson and husband, Terry, of Muldoon; stepsons: Douglas Humphreys and Marty Humphreys, both of Del Rio; Sidney Humphreys of Dallas; foster daughter, Chrystal Borne of Grand Prairie; sister, LaVerne Foster of Del Rio; grandchildren: Dustin, Joshua, Tanya, T.J., Chris, Leah, Ryan, Andrew, Cayden, Amy and Arabella and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations.

Funeral Services will be held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, with Pastor K. Hill officiating. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Del Rio on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 a.m.
