Angela Michelle Holden left this world on Feb. 18, 2024, at the age of 49, in the peaceful surroundings of her home in West Point.

Born on June 27, 1974, in Shawnee, Okla., Angela’s life was one marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.

Angela graduated from Dulles High School in Sugar Land, then her academic journey continued at The University of Houston, where she pursued her passion for understanding the human mind by getting her bachelor’s degree in psychology. This pursuit of knowledge laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong commitment to education and advocacy.

Angela and her husband Andy’s love story began at the tender age of 15 when they met at First Presbyterian Church of Houston in Youth Group. From that moment on, their lives became intertwined in a beautiful journey of love, support and companionship that spanned 35 remarkable years. Throughout their years together, their love for each other and the life they made together continued to grow stronger, a testament to their deep connection and commitment to one another.

For over three decades, Angela dedicated herself to the field of education, touching the lives of countless students with her warmth and wisdom. Her career was more than a profession; it was a calling. Angela’s innate ability to connect with children and her dedication to their well-being allowed her to make a profound impact on the young lives she guided.

In recent years, Angela’s compassionate nature led her to become a champion and advocate for adults with intellectual disabilities. She worked tirelessly to ensure that her clients, who numbered more than fifty, received the love, respect, and opportunities they deserved. Angela’s advocacy was not just a job; it was a part of who she was – a passionate and courageous woman who fought daily for those who needed a voice.

Above all, Angela cherished her role as a mother. Her daughter, Ashleigh, was the centerpiece of her life, her greatest joy, and her proudest accomplishment. Angela’s pride in Ashleigh’s accomplishments was evident to all who knew her, and the bond between them was something most parents only dream of. If love could have saved her, Ashleigh’s love for her Momma would have kept Angela alive for centuries.

Angela’s love extended to her four-legged companions, Briley, Harley, Ivy, and Murphy. These cherished dogs were treated with the same affection and care as any member of her family. Her dogs, especially her soul dog Harley, were her solace and joy. They, too, will feel the absence of her nurturing presence.

Those who knew Angela will remember her for her passionate spirit, her courageous heart, and her wise counsel. She was a beacon of light in the lives of many, guiding them through challenges with her unconditional support and understanding. Angela’s legacy is one of love, advocacy, and the profound difference she made in the lives of those she touched.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Andy Holden, and their beloved daughter, Ashleigh. Angela’s legacy of love and compassion is also carried on by her parents, Michael and Leslie Lam, as well as her loving in-laws, Don and Diane Holden. Each family member reflects a facet of Angela’s spirit, and together they will continue to honor her memory.

Angela’s life was a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her impact on the world was as profound as it was heartfelt, and while her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched.
