Irene Louise Hluchanek, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ammannsville on Aug. 10, 1924, to Henry and Josephine Hollas. She married the love of her life, Johnny Hluchanek, on April 27, 1942. Irene’s life was characterized by her unwavering faith and love for family.

She is survived by her loving children: Diane Pearson, Linda Mihatsch, Barbara Cook and her husband Marcus, all of La Grange, and her son Michael Hluchanek and his wife Janise of Cypress. Each of them carries forward her legacy of kindness and the importance of family bonds.

Irene is also survived by grandchildren: Charlie Pearson, Kim Dean, Missy Konetzke and husband Howard, Wade Morgan and wife Melanie, Jonathan Cook and wife Julie, Lyndsey Correll and husband Hayden, Lexie Hluchanek, and Jody Mihatsch and wife Courtney. In addition, Irene is survived by 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Josephine Hollas, husband Johnny Hluchanek, brother Eugene Hollas, sister Angie Tengler and son-in-laws James Pearson and Joe Mihatsch.

As we bid farewell to Irene Louise Hluchanek, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to shine brightly, reminding us all of the power of faith, the beauty of life, and the enduring strength of family.

A Holy Rosary was recited at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of La Grange on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 10:30 a.m. Irene was laid to rest at the La Grange City Cemetery following the funeral mass.
