Hielscher
Funeral services for Jerry Hielscher, 66 of Winchester, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester with Rev. Nate Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family was present for visitation Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Jerald Carroll Hielscher was born on Jan 14, 1958, in Houston, the son of Carroll and Barbara (Pampell) Hielscher. Jerry married Judy Charlene Heathcock on Oct. 4, 1980, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. Jerry worked as an oilfield pumper with Browning Oil for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, the Winchester Area Volunteer Fire Department, and the Coastal Conservation Association. He had played community baseball on the Winchester Rifles baseball team and enjoyed watching the Houston Astros. Jerry enjoyed freshwater and saltwater fishing, hunting, playing golf, snow and water skiing, watching old Westerns, playing pool and dominoes, raising cattle, and playing card games with his grandkids.
Jerry passed away on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at his home in Winchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Barbara Hielscher; his wife of 35 years, Judy Hielscher; his sister, Patti Hungerford, and his father-in-law and mother- in-law, J.W. and Ina Mae Heathcock.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Heather Deters and husband, Greg, of Winchester; his son, Jerry Hielscher and wife, Amber, of La Grange; his two granddaughters, Hadley Deters of Winchester and Scout Hielscher of La Grange; his brother, Scott Hielscher and wife, Cindy, of Winchester; his niece, Ashley Koenning and her husband, Jacob, of Rockport; his nephew, Chuck Hielscher of Winchester; aunt, Mary Watts and husband Kenneth; cousins, Kirt Watts, Kelli Bloxham and husband Chris, Jordan Davis and husband Shawn, McKay Bloxham, Parker Jo Davis and Chandler Davis as well as many other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Winchester Area Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
