Hensel
A visitation for Ruth A. “Tiny” Hensel 88, of La Grange was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2020 in the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service following. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 9, 2020 at the gazebo at the La Grange City Cemetery.
Ruth was born Jan. 25, 1932 in La Grange to Louis Albrecht and Nancy Morris Albrecht. She married Herbert L. Hensel on July 16, 1949 in La Grange. He preceded her in death. Ruth was employed by Fayette County Vet Clinic as a receptionist and was a lifelong resident of La Grange.
Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange and very active in her church and community. She Drove for American Cancer Society Cancer patients, she sang in the church choir and was active in Stephen ministry, was a Sunday school teacher and belonged to the afternoon circle at St. Paul’s. She was a quilt tracking volunteer at St. Paul’s. She belonged to the Swiss Alp dance club and she was active in nursing home ministries.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Sam Hensel and his wife Deborah of Granger and Charles Hensel and his wife Heidi of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter, Nancy Hajek and her husband Bobby of La Grange; grandchildren, David and Brooke Hensel, Brian Hensel, Sara Hajek, Renee and Aaron Campbell and Anna Hajek; step-granddaughter, Missy and Frankie Freeze of Splendora; step-great grandchildren, Macy and J.R. Hernandez, Kacy and Garrett Williamson, Lacy and Jacy Freezee; a nephew, Phillip Jones of New Braunfels; and the first great grandchild Hensel due in December.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Hensel; two sisters, Virginia Jones and Ruby Mae Jaycox; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Howes.
Family suggests memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Moran Eye Center for Kimberly A. Howes. Fellowship in memory of Ruth Hensel.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fayette Memorial Funeral Home of La Grange.
