Hayes
Byron Austin Hayes, 38, of La Grange, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.
Byron was born in La Grange on May 2, 1985, the son of Don and Lisa (Cox) Hayes.
He graduated in 2003 from La Grange High School and later pursued his love of cooking, attending culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu.
Byron worked for several years in the culinary industry before getting involved working in the oil field. While living in New Mexico, Byron had been in business for himself, starting his own company in the oil and gas industry. He worked for various oil companies for a number of years, but most recently was a Lease Operator for Magnolia Oil.
He was a devoted father to his two beloved sons: Austin and Waylon. In his spare time, Byron enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hunting. He was an avid supporter of the La Grange Little League and volunteered his time coaching while his boys played little league along with his volunteer work at Monument Hill State Park of La Grange. Byron had a heart of gold and was the type of person that always put others before himself. Byron’s smile was infectious and could immediately light up any room he entered. He volunteered his time providing motivational talks at The Last Resort in Smithville, along with actively being involved within the Austin Recovery Community.
Byron is survived by his mother and father, Lisa and Don Hayes along with his two sons that were the light of his life, Austin and Waylon Hayes, all of La Grange; two sisters: Bonnie Hayes Wetzler and husband, Michael along with their two sons, Tripp and Judge of Franklin; Brianna Hayes Dent and husband, Justin along with their two daughters, Margo and Ozzy, all of Bryan; along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of dear friends that will miss him dearly.
