DouVena Charlene Killion-Knipe-Ickert-Harris, a woman of remarkable intellect, resilience, and dedication, was born on Jan. 31, 1938 in Greenville, and left for her eternal Heavenly home on June 14, 2024.
DouVena is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Judge O.T. and Vida Frazier Killion; son, Ronny Carl Knipe; husbands, R.C. Knipe and Warren D. Ickert; two grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren.
She is survived by husband Robert J. Harris of Lake Suzy, Fla.; sons, Dennis “Dago” Coelho (Bridgett) of Houston, and Donny “DOK” Knipe of Round Top; daughters, Ronda K. Rich-Acreman (Terry) and Shelia Gillespie (Gary), both of Round Top; stepchildren, Marsha Ickert of Conroe; Tom Deane III of Kentucky; and Deborah Deane and Katherine “Kitty” Ervin, both of Michigan; daughters of heart, Annette Duke of Splendora; Norma Rodriguez of Spicewood; and Arvecie Hunt of La Grange; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and services were held in the chapel of Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home in La Grange on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Visitation was from 12 to 2 p.m. for family and friends. Services followed immediately afterwards. Burial followed at Florida Chapel Cemetery, located at the intersection of Florida Chapel Rd. and State Highway 237 in Round Top.
Her grandchildren Jeffery Knipe, Tierney Gillespie, Gwendalyn Smith, Dana Gillespie, Emily Isbell, and DouVena Adams served as pallbearers.
