Mae Dell (Marek) Harms, 90, of La Grange passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022.

Mae was born in Bellville on March 29, 1932, the daughter of Bennie and Myrtle (Slovacek) Marek. She was baptized and confirmed at Czech Moravian Brethren Church in Industry. She attended West End School in Industry.

Mae worked as a Cook and Waitress at several restaurants in the area which included Brazos Belle in Burton; Birkelbachs Café and Royer’s Café in Round Top. After retirement, she took care of her husband’s uncle and mother and husband, Wilburn, until he passed away.

She lived at Monument Hill Nursing Home for 15 years. Mae enjoyed playing bingo, attending the church services, participating in the weekly sing-a-longs and sitting up front talking to some of the ladies that she knew at Monument Hill.

Her biggest interest was cooking and always wanting everyone she cooked for to have plenty to eat including her dog, Spot.

She is survived by a brother, Daniel Marek and wife, Leatrice, of Round Top; two nephews: Brian Marek and wife, Lanna; and Ryan Marek and wife, Gina, all of Rutersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Wilburn Harms.
