Gaertner

Debra Lynn (LaBell) Gaertner, 60, of La Grange passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at her home in La Grange.

Debra was born in Dansville, New York on Dec. 19, 1962, the daughter of Bertram and June (McDowell) LaBell. She moved to La Grange in the early 1980s where she met Jesse Gaertner, her husband of 34 years. Jesse and Debra were married Jan. 14, 1989.

Debra loved spending time outdoors, camping, and fishing with her husband, Jesse, and their dog, Sweetheart, along with enjoying an occasional frozen margarita. She spent the majority of her career as an Operating Room Technician and Certified Nurse’s Aide, along with various other positions.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse; her father, Bertram LaBell, of La Grange; her sister, Pamela Menefee of La Grange; her sister, Darlene, and her husband, Bob O’Keefe of Buffalo, New York; her brother, Butch, and his wife, Pamela LaBell of Lockport, New York; her brother-in-law, Frankie, and his wife, Bridgette Gaertner of La Grange; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, June LaBell, and her in-laws, Todd and Lillian Gaertner.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger with family present from 12 to 1 p.m. to receive friends. A Holy Rosary will be recited that day at 1 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church of Ellinger at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the La Grange City Cemetery.
