Franke
Charlene Grace Franke, 77, of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026.
Charlene was born in Smithville on July 27, 1948, the daughter of the late Anna Otillie (Lehmann) and Traugott H. Franke.
Charlene spent her life being a homemaker and spending endless hours going to St. Michael to iron the many quilt squares it took to make the many quilts that the ladies sewed.
Charlene was a lifetime member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Winchester as well as a long-time favorite member of the Community of Winchester. Charlene never met a stranger and was always up for a good clean joke or any kind of prank that she could play on you. Charlene was always faithful to her church and community. She also loved Elvis in case you didn’t know. In her later life she found the art of coloring and was quick to share a piece of her art with you along with the biggest hug you ever had.
She is survived by one sister, Annie (Franke) Schroeder of Smithville, and one sisterin- law, Iris Franke of Smithville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James Franke, and RC Franke, a brother-in-law, Johnny Schroeder, and niece, Susan Wilkins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl, La Grange. Family received friends at this time.
