Fox Jo Ann Fox, age 91, died peacefully on Feb. 14, 2023 at Monument Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in La Grange.

She was born Dec. 10, 1931 in San Antonio, the second daughter of Alvin and Thelma (Bouquet) Icke. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1950. Following graduation, she attended Draughon’s Business College where she studied secretarial skills and shorthand and afterwards worked at National Biscuit Company.

Jo Ann attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, was an active member of the Walther League and enjoyed volleyball and bowling. The USO at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio recommended St. Paul to Glenn Fox, where he met Jo Ann in Walther League activities.

After Glenn was discharged from the Army they were married at St. Paul in June 1956. Soon thereafter they settled in Houston, where they would spend most of their years. JoAnn spent many years raising their three boys. Once they were all in high school, she took a job as a bookkeeper in the auditing department at Sears, Roebuck & Co where she worked for about 25 years.

Glenn and JoAnn acquired rural property which would occupy many weekends with chores and tending cattle. Jo Ann became one with a FarmAll Cub tractor, shredding acres and acres of weeds and grass. She was an ardent supporter of, and chauffeur for, her sons’ baseball and football activities, which required a lot of time and coordination.

When Glenn and Jo Ann retired from the corporate rat race, they moved to their Round Top farm where they enjoyed the country life. They were active members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top and members of the choir. Round Top was their home for 27 years.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Glenn Fox, her parents, Alvin and Thelma Icke, and sister, Betty Icke Mullineaux.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Fox and wife Jan of Houston, Wayne Fox of Conroe, Kenneth Fox of Tacoma, Wash., and grandson Jordan Fox of Denver, Colo.

The family wants to extend special appreciation to the staff of Monument Hill Nursing and Rehab and to Hospice Brazos Valley for their kindness and care during her final years.

Funeral services are entrusted to Claire Brothers Funeral Home of Houston. A graveside service will be held at Houston National Cemetery on Monday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Assembly begins at 1:45 p.m. at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive-Lane 1.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 412 S. White, Round Top, TX 78954; Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation, P.O. Box 85, Round Top, TX 78954; Round Top-Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 145, Round Top, TX 78954 or any other local charity of one’s choosing.
