Erickson
Glenn Erickson, a dedicated husband, father, veteran, and friend, peacefully passed away in his sleep on May 18, 2024, at the age of 73. His, deep love for his family, and his enduring friendships will forever live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Born on July 23, 1950, in Houston, Glenn was the cherished son of the late Chester F. and Vivian A. Erickson. Glenn served his country with honor during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1974, embodying the true spirit of selflessness and duty.
Following his military service, Glenn embarked on a civilian career with the Naval Air Service, stationed on North Island in San Diego, Calif. as a technician specializing in ejection seats for F-4 fighter jets.
Eventually, Glenn returned home to Houston in the late 1970s. He then moved to La Grange in 1979 where he began a distinguished tenure with GTE (Verizon Telephone), for thirty-three years before retiring.
Even in retirement, Glenn’s spirit of service continued as he found fulfillment in volunteering at his local American Legion Hall in Giddings, where he supported fellow veterans and their families.
Glenn’s greatest pride and joy were his family. For fortytwo years, he shared an enduring love and companionship with his beloved wife, Debbie Erickson, creating a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Glenn will be deeply missed by his sister, Debbie (Mike) Watts; his children, Darek (Becky) Erickson, Jon (Kelley) Masters, Kim (Paul) Patti, and Trevor Erickson. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Matthew Masters, Haley (Jarrett) Franklin, Christopher Masters, Marissa Patti, Austin Erickson, Anthony Patti, and Ashley Masters. Additionally, Glenn leaves behind cherished nephews and nieces: David Godwin, Dylan Tyler, Elizabeth Roberts, Bobby Godwin, James Tyler, Michelle Tyler, Eric Watts, Lauren Watts, Brandi Helton, and Liz Hilliar. Glenn’s extended family and longtime friends, including many brothers and sisters-inlaw, also held a special place in his life.
Glenn’s family invites all who knew and loved him to join in honoring his memory on June 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. for military honors at the Giddings Cemetery at 900 W. Austin St. Immediately following there will be a Celebration of Life to be held at “the shop” in Giddings. This was a place where Glenn shared countless cherished moments with his lifelong friend, Bump Harrison and his family JoAnn and Hunt, working on cars and enjoying each other’s company.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to American Legion York Post 276, Giddings, Texas or The ALS Association ( als.org/donate).
