James Emil Edwards was born in Houston on Oct. 11, 1982. He resided in Houston with his mom (Carolyn Matura Edwards) and his dad (James Morgan Edwards). On Aug. 6, 1985, James moved out to a small subdivision in Hockley where he made numerous friends. There was not one person who met James that did not find his sense of humor to be very entertaining and James’ laugh absolutely infectious.

After working in the machine shop industry for 20+ years, he began struggling to walk. The doctors told him that his car crash in 2001 had done some major damage to James’ hip. After multiple doctors’ visits, his wife called it quits on their marriage because she would not be his caregiver and James moved to Fayetteville where he resided the remainder of his life with his grandma, his uncle Emil and mom, Carolyn.

His dog Karma and his nephew became James’ new focus on life. On Dec. 15, 2024, James became very ill. James was in and out of hospitals for the following threemonths. He was diagnosed with Stage IV Adenocarcenoma of the Colon which metastasized into the Peritoneal Wall. On James’ last hospital stay, he was informed that the cancer had spread throughout his entire body. James asked his family to keep this information private and to just get him home to see his nephew and his dog one last time.

One of his jokes to longtime friend (and Pastor) was that he would pass away on April Fools. James was born Oct. 11, 1982, and died on April 2, 2025. He will forever be Bubba to Charli, Eric and Jake. James will forever be Uncle Bubba to Lil’ Eric James and he will always be his mother’s Sweet Baby James.

Survivors are Carolyn Edwards-mom, Charlene Castro- sister, Eric Castro-brother in-law, Eric James Castronephew, uncle Emil Matura, III, uncle Brian Buchanan, cousins: Jake, Jamie, Brandon, Celina, Cody and multiple second and third cousins along with multiple great aunts and uncles.

James is preceded in death by his dad-James Morgan Edwards, his grandparents-Martha and Emil Matura, James Richard Edwards, and his aunt Susan Buchanan.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 3 - 5 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations of La Grange with family present at this time to receive friends. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 5 p.m.
